The origins of my 1982 trip was to visit my friend Judith whom I had met in Toronto in 1980. My itinerary was built around it a 10-day BritRail excursion pass that would include going north to Inverness, Scotland, over to northern Wales and through the Lake District then back to London. Originally wanted to include visiting southern Wales where Rhondda Valley is located. The train/bus combinations didn't allow travel within the confines of my pass and time, so plans revised to start the Wales portion in Aberystwyth.

Knew loosely where I'd make my stops but no hotel bookings, no idea where I'd sleep that night. Just wanted to take the train, any kind, in the various places I went. Wherever the local British Tourist Authority found bed and breakfast location for me, that's when I'd lay my head down.

With a promise from Judith's parents that no matter where I was, if I encountered any reason to abort, they'd come and get me. Hope that wouldn't be necessary but in my heart, knew it was absolutely true.

The BritRail pass carried a strict condition of a time limit. I had to be back in London, or on a train bound for London, no later than midnight June 10th or pay extra fees.

There is no rhyme-or-reason for the photos I took or didn't take. Looking back, I see multiples of some yet nothing of other places. At times it's as if I forgot the cost-per-frame of developing!
